Markus Waser founded waser iPM in 2004 after working 18 years at UBS and the former Swiss Bank Corp. in technology and management positions in Switzerland and internationally. Markus received his MBA in Strategic Planning from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, UK. He started his professional career at Sperry Univac (now Unisys) in Zurich and continued in various technology and project management responsibilities, with focus on credit and loan management, at UBS in Basel, Frankfurt, London and New York.
Upon his return to Switzerland he assumed IT responsibility for the Trading and Settlement systems at SBC’s Investment Bank in Zurich. At the time of the merger of SBC and UBS, Markus was in charge of the regional IT management for Switzerland, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and managed the integration of the IT teams in Switzerland with over 400 employees. During the following three years, Markus was in charge of the technology units of 6 UBS Private Banks with the goal of a joint integrated IT and Operations service centre.
After setting up waser iPM, Markus took on various interim executive mandates in Zurich and Paris. In 2006 he joined Swisscom IT Services and took responsibility for an Avaloq core banking system implementation at a major Swiss cantonal bank. In 2008 Markus was promoted to the Executive Board and given the responsibility for Business Development and one year later for the Products and Services Solutions business. From 2012 to 2014, Markus took on mandates in Consulting and Interim Executive positions in strategic sourcing, asset management product development as well as in a real estate management (PropTech) start-up. From 2014 to 2016 Markus was the Chief Product Officer and member of the executive board at Finnova AG, a core banking software provider.
From 2016 to 2022 waser iPM was the sales and business development partner Switzerland of Miratech Group, a Ukraine based near-shoring Software Engineering firm.
Also since 2016 Markus is a sales and business development partner of Backbase, the provider of the leading Digital Banking Engagement Platform.
In 2023, waser iPM joined UnderDefence as a regional partner for sales and business development.
